| Background:As a kind of skin lesion, acne is the chronic inflammation of sebaceous glands. It usually occurs during adolescence. Acne not only affects the facial appearance, but also has a bad influence on patients'feelings and emotions, or even on their study and work. As the society and the living standard have been elevated, people have a higher pursuit for their outward appearance and temperament. Mainly occurring in the face, the pigmentation or the scar acne may leave easily bring about depression, inferiority, anxiety, and embarrassment. And these negative motions can lead to neurological and endocr ine di sorder so as to worsen patients'condition and result in vicious circle.So far, western medicine has not been sure about the pathogenesis of acne, the routine therapeutic plan is taking antibiotic and anti-androgen orally. Using antibiotic can work in the initial stage, but easiIy brings to recurrence. In that case, the usage of the antibiotic will be increased or another antibiotic will be applied. What's more, long-term use of antibiotic brings about drug resistant and adverse reactions. And systematic use of ant i-androgen will cause several secondary reactions, such as nausea, anorexia, abnormal menstruation, or worse endocrine disorder after withdrawal. With the constant deepening study, acupuncture has been more and more important in curing acne. To cure a chronic skin disease like acne, acupuncture has to guarantee the frequency. As the pace of modern live speeds up, treatment of high frequency limits compliance. Otherwise, that the amount of acupoints selected in routine acupuncture could produce mental burden in patients so as to impact the course of the treatment. ObjectiveAccording to random control study, research the clinical effects of therapy of catgut implantation with auricular acupuncture for Acne.MethodsChoose 90 patients suffered form acne and divide them into four levels according to their conditions, and then randomIy divide them into the Treatment Group, Control Groupâ…¡and Control Groupâ…¡. Treatment Group is treated with catgut implantation and auricular acupuncture, once every week for 8 weeks. Control Groupâ…¡is treated with routine acupuncture, once every other day for 8 weeks. Control Groupâ…¡is treated with routine acupuncture, once every week for 8 weeks. The scores of skin lesion and total effective rate of each group were compared before the treatment, in the 4th week and the 8th week of the course. And follow up study was given a month after the course of treatment.ResultTreatment Group with 30 participants had an effective rate of 93.3% after two-moth treatment (recovery 9 cases, markedly 12 cases, effective 7 cases and invalid 2cases). Control Groupâ… with 30 participants had an effective rate of 90.0% after two-moth treatment (recovery 8 cases, markedly 13 cases, effective 6 cases and invalid 3 cases). And Control Groupâ…¡with 26 participants had an effective rate of 73.1% after two-moth treatment (recovery 4 cases, markedly 6 cases, effective 9 cases and invalid 7 cases). In addition, the results indicated that the effectives of all the therapies has no remarkable difference (p>0.05), but the difference is significant when any two groups are compared (p<0.05).Concluus ion1. Catgut implantation-auricular acupuncture as well as routine acupuncture are helpful to improve skin lesion of acne patients.2. For the same frequency of treatment, the effect of catgut implantation-auricular acupuncture is better than routine acupuncture which has to increase the frequency or course to achieve the same effect.
