Clinical Research Of Electro-acupuncture And Catgut Implantation At Acupoint On Simple Obesity

objective: To explore the therapeutic effect of electro-acupuncture and catgut implantation at acupoint on simple obesity and find out the better treatment program on simple obesity with electro-acupuncture and catgut implantation at acupoint.Methods: ninety simple obesity patients were randomly divided into three groups: electro-acupuncture group, catgut implantation at acupoint group and electro-acupuncture with catgut implantation at acupoint group. After treatment, obesity index (waistline, hip circumference, thigh circumference, body mass, body mass index, percentage of body fat and fat content of internal organs), symptom and sign of pretherapy and post-treatment were observed. SPSS 13.0 software was performed in the statistical analysis.Result: After treatment, the obesity index and symptom integrate were both obviously descended (P<0.01) . These prompted that electro-acupuncture, catgut implantation at acupoint and electro-acupuncture with catgut implantation at acupoint were all the effective treatments on simple obesity. There was remarkably statistical significance among electro-acupuncture group, catgut implantation at acupoint and electro-acupuncture with catgut implantation at acupoint group on body mass, waistline, BMI, and VFA (p<0.01). There was no statistical significance among the three groups on hip circumference, thigh circumference and FAT. There was remarkably statistical significance among the three groups on improving symptom integrate(p<0.01). Catgut implantation at acupoint was better than electro-acupuncture on improving symptom integrate(p<0.01). The total effective rate of electro-acupuncture group was better than this of catgut implantation at acupoint group. But there was no statistical significance between the two groups.Conclusion: Electro-acupuncture and catgut implantation at acupoint are both the effective treatments on simple obesity. Electro-acupuncture is better than catgut implantation at acupoint on improving BMI and VFA. Catgut implantation at acupoint is better than electro-acupuncture on improving symptom integrate. Electro-acupuncture with catgut implantation at acupoint is better than electro-acupuncture or catgut implantation at acupoint on degrading waistline, hip circumference, thigh circumference, BMI, FAT and VFA and improving clinical symptom. Rational diet, exercise and selecting suitable treatment can raise the therapeutic effect on reducing weight.
