Objective:The present study aims to understand the status, which is the AIDS knowledge, behavior, attitude of different groups in Taiyuan,since the implementation of World Bank Loan Health IX Project AIDS/STD Prevention and Control Project, detect some weak links and problems that exist in the work timely, provide a scientific basis for the development of targeted interventions, and ensure the knowledge and awareness of how to prevent from AIDS in different groups are maintained at a high level, and then,control the epidemic spread of AIDS in the local region.Methods:In this study, we taked existing circumstances research. We selected 3903 objects, including 596 female sex workers,592 floating population,900 urban residents,909 farmers,906 college students,according to stratified random sampling method. According to the unified design of the questionnaire,we conducted a questionnaire survey to collect information on the objects that are mentioned above by the trained qualified investigators, with face-to-face, anonymous method of investigation. Survey content includes gender, nationality, age, education level, marital status and other demographic characteristics; the knowledge status of AIDS transmission and non transmission ways; the mastery situation of AIDS prevention measures; unsafe sex and the use of condom; the attitude to AIDS patients and HIV carriers; the main source of AIDS information.We entered data by Software Epi Data3.1, analyzed the knowledge, behaviors, attitudes and other indicators in different groups of people, with chi-square test by software SPSS 13.0.Results:1. The awareness of AIDS prevention knowledge in Female sex workers, urban residents, college students is higher than in floating population and farmers.2. The knowledge of AIDS prevention and control is mastered relatively one-sided, especially the "mosquito bites do not spread AIDS", the highest awareness rate was only 42.4% in different groups of people.3. It is widespreaded that different groups of people fear and reject the existence of HIV carriers and AIDS patients.4. High-risk sexual behavior occurred in floating population is higher than in urban residents and farmers. When the sex partner is non-fixed non-commercial,the use of condom in floating population is higher than in urban residents and farmers; but,when the sex partner changes to commercial,the use of condom in urban residents is higher than floating population and farmers.5. Female sex workers have the proportion of 70.1% in using condom when they occur sexual relations with the guests,but the proportion is lower when the paitner is fixed. Some of the female sex workers are also drug users.6. The chance for college students and female sex workers to get condom distribution, access to AIDS consulting and detection is higher than floating population, urban residents and farmers.7. Different groups of people get the knowledge of AIDS prevention and control mainly through TV, radio, newspapers and books, and the internet.Conclusion:The publicity and education work on AIDS prevention knowledge should be strengthened between floating population and farmers.In the future,we should focus on comprehensive publicity and education work of the knowledge of AIDS prevention.We Should further promote the use of condoms, and increase awareness of self-protection in different groups of people.Try our best to eliminate the discrimination of different groups of people against HIV carriers and AIDS patients.Strengthen the publicity and education on television, radio, newspapers and books, and other mainstream media, and make promotional materials which are easy to understand and be accepted,according to work and living characteristics of different people.
