A Study On Application Of OSCE In Evaluation Of The Clinical Competence Of College Nursing Students

Nursing is applied science, which focuses on practice. The training objective ofNursing Major aims at bringing up the students'abilities to solve clinical problems byNursing Education. To test the competence of nursing undergraduates, nursing clinicalcompetence is an essential term and index, and also the indicator of assessingteaching qualities of nursing undergraduates. Therefore, to use a objective assessmethod; establish and improve the tool of assessing nursing undergraduates'clinicalcompetence would prove to have active effect on both assuring and improvingteaching qualities and promoting the training of nursing employees who could satisfythe requirement of social development. This paper aims at defining the concept andcomponent of nursing clinical competence; setting up efficient and objectiveevaluation method thus, providing scientific method to assess nursing undergraduatesqualifications.This thesis applies the combination of such scientific methods as paper analysis,data research, and specialists'consultation. And by analyzing the research papers bothand home and abroad of clinical abilities assessment of medical and nursingundergraduates, this paper has initially defined the concept and component of nursingclinical competence. Then after two rounds of specialists'consultation, set up thecomponent of nursing clinical competence. On such basis, the research brought OSCEinto nursing education assessment. By combining the characters of OSCE and nursingmajor and applying specialists'discussion results, the research finally established theOSCE assessment method, and carried it into practical field. This paper consists of 3 parts.Partâ… : Theory establishment research on concept and component of nursingundergraduates'clinical competence .After analyzing the papers and evaluation methods of nursing undergraduates'clinical competence assessment both at home and abroad, the thesis initially definedconcept and component of nursing clinical competence. Using SPSS11.5 toanalyze the exam results, with moderate difficulty and high distinction index, OSCE proves tohave terrific reliability and validity.
