OBJECTIVES:1 To investigate different inquired groups' expectation status of clinical competence that practical nursing talents should possess,and to ascertain the goal of clinical nursing education.2 To compare clinical competence of two different types of undergraduates from high school and junior college and to analyze related factors so that some powerful evidence could be provided to consummate Chinese undergraduate nursing education.3 To explore the different inquiry groups' evaluation status of curricula setup in practical nursing universities,and compare with the actual setup.METHODS:1 The expectation questionnaire of undergraduate practical nursing talents' clinical competence was used to investigate the expectation status of practical nursing talents' clinical competence from different groups,such as doctors,nursing managers,clinical teachers,nursing graduates,and so on.2 The undergraduate nursing students' clinical competence assessment scale was utilized to assess the status of students' clinical competence through self-evaluation and other-evaluation.3 The curricula evaluation questionnaire and literature analysis were applied to explore the expectation and actual curricula setup in nursing universities.RESULTS:1 Clinical nursing practice ability and communication ability were regarded as the most important competences for undergraduate practical nursing talents.2 Observing states of illnesses,performing and cooperating emergency treatment, dealing sudden problems,detecting nursing problems,conducting specialized and general nursing techniques,comprehending and expressing,utilizing communication skills,cooperating with colleagues,performing doctor's orders were regarded as the ten most important clinical competences.3 Every groups of people evaluated the importance of clinical competences differently.4 All the students were rated as qualified,most of them showed moderate to high level in their clinical competences.5 There were statistically significant difference in nursing research ability according to other-evaluation(P<0.05 ),and in whole assessments and seven clinical abilities according to self-evaluation(P<0.05).6 Among the ten most important curricula regarded by persons,tne setup rate of Anatomy,Histology and Embryology,Emergency Nursing,Interpersonal Communication and Nursing Occupational Protection were 93.2%,90.9%,11.6%and zero.The rest were 100.0%.7 Among the t least important curricula regarded by persons,Economics of Nursing and Nursing Informatics hadn't been set up..CONCLUSIONS:1 Undergraduate practical nursing talents should possess clinical nursing practice ability,communication ability,psychological qualities in occupation,health education ability,clinical managing ability,clinical teaching ability,nursing research ability.And clinical nursing practice ability and communication ability are the most important.2 The two types of students' clinical competence got to the undergraduate educational goals.But their levels were different,which was related with initiative education degree and class hours of related curricula in universities.3 The actual setup of nursing curricula of 44 four-year universities is in accordance with inquired persons' expectation mostly.And the setup of major nursing curricula in different universities is similar。But it's still necessary to the raise setup rate of some curricula,such as Anatomy,Histology and Embryology,Emergency Nursing,Interpersonal Communication and Nursing Occupational Protection,Economics of Nursing and Nursing Informatics.
