Objective:To investigate the expression of VEGF,p-Akt and Survivin proteins and the level of apoptosis of keratinocytes. Analyse the role of PI3K/Akt signal pathway in the pathogenesis of lichen planus. Methods:Immunohistochemical technique was employed to study the expression of VEGF,p-Akt and Survivin in 30 cases of lichen planus and 30 cases of normal skin.TUNEL was used to study the apoptosis of keratinocytes. The relationship among the expression of VEGF,p-Akt and Survivin was analyzed. Results:The positive expression of VEGF,p-Akt and Survivin shows yellow or brown granules in the cytoplasm, the IOD(integrated optical density) values to the strength of the positive expression.Compared with the normal group, the IOD of VEGF,p-Akt and Survivin were 13.584±1.131,14.405±1.263 and 10.537±1.212 which were upregulated in lichen planus speciens(P< 0.01), and there was significantly positive correlation between the expression of VEGF and Survivin, VEGF and p-Akt, p-Akt and Survivin in lesional epidermis(P <0.01).The keratinoytes AI was 72.817±9.234 in lichen planus, which was significantly higher than its 28.160±3.464 in normal skin(P<0.01).Conclusion:The expression of surviving can be promoted by the high level expression of VEGF via PI3K/Akt signal pathway in lichen planus. The pathogenesis of Lichen planus may be associated with the PI3K/Akt signal pathway. The hyperproliferation and overapoptosis of keratinocytes may coexist.
