Objective: To investigate the level of apoptosis of keratinocytes and the expression of Ki-67,P53 in lichen planus . Analyse the significance of the expression of Ki-67,P53 and cell apoptosis in lichen planus .Methods: TUNEL and Immunohistochemical technique were employed to study the apoptosis of keratinocytes and the expression of Ki-67,P53 in 30 cases of lichen planus and 30 cases of normal skin .Results: The keratinocytes AI (apoptosis index) was 74.37±8.98 in lichen planus , which was significantly higher than its 31.75±8.85 in normal skin(P<0.01); The positive expressions of Ki-67 and P53 show yellow or brown granules in the cell nucelus , the IOD (integrated optical density) values to the strength level of the positive expressions .Compared with the normal group , the IOD of Ki-67 and P53 were (12.769±3.320)×103 and (18.263±1.422)×103,which were upregulated in lichen planus(P<0.01).Conclusion: In lichen planus , the apoptosis of keratinocytes were significantly accelerated ; The up-regulated expression of Ki-67 indicated the hyperproliferation of keratinocytes in lichen planus ; The hyperproliferation and overapoptosis of keratinocytes may coexist , and imbalance of them may contribute to the formation of pathological changes in lichen planus ; The up-regulated expression of P53 may be one of the reasons to lead to the pathological changes of lichen planus .
