| Background and Specific AimsIn recent years, DLL4 was certified that it plays an important role in regulating tumor blood vessel development and maturation. CD34 is the most sensitive marker of vascular endothelial. This study was designed to measure the expression of DLL4 and CD34 protein in lung cancer, and discuss the possible clinical significance for tumor and Angiogenesis.Materials and MethodsImmunohistochemical method was used to detect DLL4 and CD34 protein expression in 68 case of non-small-cell lung carcinoma and 25 case of adjacent normal lung tissue paraffin section tissues.ResultsDLL4 protein stained as brown granules. Compared with in normal lung tissue, expression of DLL4 is overexpression in lung cancer, and the difference is significant (MOD=0.2421±0.0170 vs MOD=0.2317±0.0148,t=2.694, p=0.008). It is also overexpression in adenocarcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma(respectively p=0.032 and p=0.007). The expression of DLL4 is closely related with lymph node(F=9.238, p=0.004) metastasis and histological grade(F=11.878, p< 0.001), but not with age(F=3.176,p=0.079) and gender(F=3.785, p=0.056). Expression of CD34 is overexpression in lung cancer, and the difference is significant(MOD=0.2971±0.0525 vs MOD=0.2554±0.0487,t=3.461, p=0.001). There is a significant positive correlation between expression of DLL4 and CD34(r=0.786, p<0.001).ConclusionsCompared with in normal lung tissue, expression of DLL4 is overexpression in lung cancer, and the difference is significant.
