The Effect Of Acupoint Catgut-embedding Therapy On Insulin Resistance Of Obese Patients With Polycystic Ovary Syndrome

Background of theoryPolycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a syndrome of endocrine disorders characterized by persistent anovulation> hyperandrogenism or insulin resistance. Currently considered, PCOS is the most common endocrine diseases of women in childbearing age, prevalence rate of 5%-20%. Its causes is still unknown, and its pathophysiology is complex, clinical manifestations showed polymorphism. The pathogenesis of PCOS is not clear, but the main lesion is excessive insulin caused by insulin resistance. The incidence of obesity in PCOS patients is 41%-50%. Losing weigh can correct the glucose and lipid metabolism disorders and insulin resistance state effectively. How to lose weight, reduce obesity effectively have been an important method to solve the obese PCOS.Western medicine mainly uses drug or surgery to ovulation, improve insulin resistance and progesterone. But there are more reports of adverse reactions in western medicine.Chinese medicine believes that the causes of obese patients with PCOS are phlegm and insufficient liver and kidney. The pathogenesis is phlegm and blood stasis, vein occlusion and insufficient liver and kidney. According to the conclusion reported in the literature, the reports of women with PCOS treated with acupuncture are less, but the reports of acupuncture treatment for obesity are numerous. Methods of acupuncture treatment for obesity are diversity, and clinical efficacy has been improved. There are few reports of adverse reactions. According to clinical observation, after using acupuncture and catgut-embedding therapy to reduce obesity, it improves the obese patients with PCOS symptoms and reduces insulin resistance. Acupuncture and acupoint catgut-embedding therapy as the effective and easy way to lose weigh and regulate menstruation, its efficacy and mechanism are worth our in-depth study in future.ObjectiveDiscussing the validity of obese PCOS treated with acupoint catgut-embedding therapy, in order to provide the effective treatment programs. Discuss the effect of acupoint catgut-embedding therapy on insulin resistance of obese PCOS.MethodsTaking 60 patients of obese PCOS from the acupuncture clinic of Guangdong Province TCM Hospital and the traditional therapy center of University Town TCM Hospital as the cases of study, randomly divided into treatment group (acupoint catgut-embedding therapy group) and the control group(electricity acupuncture group),30 cases in each group for randomized controlled trial. After 3 months treatment, we evaluated the clinical efficacy of two groups. We observed the index of before and after treatment, such as weigh, BMI, body circumference, menstrual, fasting blood-glucose(FBG), fasting insulin(FIns), and use the statistical methods for analysis.Results1. The results showed that, after 3 courses of treatment, two groups of body weight, BMI, body circumference were significantly reduced (P <0.01). After the treatment, the menstruation resumed had been improved. There is no significant difference between two groups in treating obese PCOS (P>0..05).2. Observing the trial, we found that the obese patients'Fins, IR degree and BMI, waist circuit was significantly positively correlated (P <0.05), FBG and waist circuit was significantly positively correlated (P <0.05); after the treatment, the FIns and IR index of patients in two groups has shown a significantly lower (P<0.05). There is no significant difference between two groups (P>0.05). It shows that acupoint catgut-embedding therapy and acupuncture can regulate the IR positively in obese PCOS. 3. During the trial we found that body weight and waist circumference is basically the same trend. The process can be sub-2 phase,4 weeks ago the speed significantly faster than 4 weeks to 12 weeks.Conclusions1. Acupoint catgut-embedding therapy and acupuncture are the effective methods to treat obese PCOS. There is no significant difference between two groups.2. In actual operation, acupoint catgut-embedding therapy has many advantages in simple operation, the treatment taking short time, long effect time. It conforms to modern fast and efficient pace of life.3. Acupoint catgut-embedding therapy is a simple, effective, without side effects treatment for obese PCOS, and it is worth clinical use.
