ObjectiveThis research has applied the randomized, controlled policy in clinic to give an objective assessment of curative effect and safty of WEILIANGSHANGKE TIE in treating acute sprain of ankle.Methods60 patients in clinic were divided randomly into two groups:Weiliang Shangke Tie group(Shangke Tie group), Weiliang Shangke San group(Shangke San group). Based on the degree of injury, gives the medicine to externally apply, and proper braking with the ankle, oral Chinese herbs in activating the blood circulation and removing the blood stasis. The treatment for both groups were practiced once everyday,5 days were a completed course, two courses were observated.And the information was collected before and after the treatment and statistically analyzed. The main items for observation included pain, tenderness, swelling and function of ankles.Resultsâ‘ The total effective rate and curative rate:The effective rate and curative rate were 100%and 90% in Shangke Tie group,100%and 93.3% in Shangke San group respectively. There was significant difference comparing the before treatment with the afte in two groups (P<0.01). There was no difference between the two groups in total effective rate (P> 0.05).â‘¡The improvement of symptoms:the result showed that the pain, tenderness, swelling and function of ankles were all greatly improved in both bleeding and acupuncture group after two courses. There was significant difference (P<0.01) before and after the treatment in both groups. But no difference between the two groups (P> 0.05).â‘¢There were three adverse reactions during research in Shangke Tie group while two in Shangke San group. Showed local skin redness, with mild itching. After shorten the time of medication and oral allergy drug all symptoms were relieved.9 patients of Shangke San group (mild in 7 cases, moderate in 2 cases) treated during the treatment said trouble in using the medicine and inconvenient to shoes, smell great and other shortcomings, but did not cause dissatisfaction of patients and their families.ConclusionThe rate of curative effect for Shangke Tie treating acute sprain of ankle have reached 90%, and the total effective rate is 100%. Compared with Shangke San, there is no difference in total effective rate and curative rate, and improvement on clinical signs and symptoms. The conclusion is that the Weiliang Shangke Tie is a simple external application and effective way to treat acute sprain of ankles and it's worth popularized in clinic.
