| ObjectiveWith the improvement of living standards, changes in diet, protein and alcohol intake increasing, high blood uric acid and gout prevalence rate increased gradually. The use of western medicine treating acute gouty arthritis has much limitations because its side effects are more, and especially for the patients with renal dysfunction. Many scholars currently have make some achievements in the treatment of gout with Chinese herbs. However there is not one medicine that has significant through reviewed domestic and foreign literature, We need to find a safe, reliable and effective method. In this study, we observe the clinical efficacy of JiaWei the Recipe of Baihu Plus Cassia Twig soup in order to find a safe and effective method.Materials and methodsFrom Zhuhai, Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Orthopedic inpatients and outpatients we choosed 70 patients with acute gouty arthritis including 63 males and 7 females; aged 20 to 80, and they were randomly divided into 2 groups: gtreatment group, thirty-five cases, The mean age was 46.17±13.03. Control group mean age was 46.68±12.74years. Treatment group:JiaWei Recipe of Baihu Plus Cassia Twig soup, one dose a day for 7 days, twice each day(morning and evening), control group:Baihu Plus Cassia Twig soup, twice each day for 7 days. We observed the effect after one week between the two groups, studyed acute gouty arthritis index including uric acid (UA), erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR), C-reactive protein (CRP), joint function, integrated effects, adverse reactions assessments, and we made the table of acute gouty arthritis.Application of Microsoft Excel and the data SPSS13.0 software to establish a database and statistical software for statistical analysis, the level of significance set (P<0.05).Results1. Clinical Evaluation:in JiaWei Recipe of Baihu Plus Cassia Twig soup group,5 cases were clinically cured, markedly effective in 15 cases, Effective in 13 cases,2 cases ineffective, the total effective rate was 94.28%; Baihu Plus Cassia Twig soup group,1 cases were clinically cured, markedly effective in 6 cases, Effective in 20 cases,8 cases ineffective, total effective rate was 77.14%. The difference between two groups was significant (P<0.05), the treatment group was better than the control group.2. the main symptom score comparison:1 week after treatment, compared the main symptoms before and after treatment, joint symptoms (joint pain, swelling, mobility, tenderness, etc.) all improved in the treatment group and control group, there was significantly difference in all the main symptoms values before and after treatment were (P<0.05), and there was significantly difference in between treatment group and control group. Two group all improved joint symptoms, but the treatment group was better than the control group.3. Comparison of laboratory examination:1 week after treatment, the uric acid significantly decreased, there was significantly difference between them (P<0.05). The control group after 1 week uric acid didn't change much, there is no difference (P>0.05). the erythrocyte sedimentation rate and the high sensitivity C-reactive protein were lover than before treatment, both of groups received significant effect(P<0.05), and the treatment group had obviously effective than the control group(P<0.05).4. security comparison:there were no adverse reactions, none of the two groups had blood urine, feces, and liver and kidney dysfunction after treatment, indicating the two drugs are safe and reliable.Conc lus i onThe results showed that JiaWei Recipe of Baihu Plus Cassia Twig soup treatmenting acute gouty arthritis was better than Recipe of Baihu Plus Cassia Twig soup. swelling and pain could really reduced, and joint function improved, uric acid reduced, erythrocyte sedimentation rate and high sensitivity C-reactive protein reduced, and there is not significant clinical side effects, it is worthy of promotion. |
