Background and purpose: Varicose veins of lower extremity is a common clinical symptom, is caused by many different diseases. and it can be divided into primary and secondary according to the cause of disease. the incidence of Varicose veins of lower extremity is 9.08% according to statistics on the adults group, With the development of medical technology, especially DSA and Color Doppler Flow Imaging, we have gained a deeper understanding of this Symptoms. Treatment of Varicose veins of lower extremity also has experienced different stages: Trendelenbury proposed the treatment of high ligation of great saphenous vein first time in 1891; Homans proposed the treatment of stripping of varicose veins in the basis of ligation in 1916; Linton Proposed the treatment of the traffic branch vein ligation surgery in 1938; According to reported foreign data the recurernce rate of high ligation of great saphenous vein is 24-40%,the rate of convalescence after the surger is only 20%within five years. high ligation of great saphenous vein and Stripping of varicose veins has became the classic surgical treatment of Varicose veins of lower extremity, but the recurernce rate is still 10%.The aim of this study was to get a better Choice of surgical to Reduce the recurernce rateResearch Methods: a total of 63 cases were collected, from August 2005 to December 2008 in Shandong Provincial Hospital. analysising the clinical manifestations, imaging examinations (including color Doppler, or venography of lower limbs) etc.To discuss the reasons of the postoperative recurrence of varicose veins of lower extremity. The results: 63 patients with 75 limbs was divide with CEAP : grade 4 of 25 cases, grade 5 of 28 cases, grade 4 of 22 cases. 70 limbs (93%) shows reflux of the traffic vein, 59 limbs shows reflux of Superficial femoral , mild regurgitation of which about 17 (23% ), moderate regurgitation of about 28 (37%), severe reflux 14 (19%), there are 3 limbs without valva. 57 limbs (76%) shows saphenous vein, 13 limbs shows blockade the iliac vein (PTS) (17.3%) , one show the KTS syndrome(1.3%), two cases show Cockett syndrome(2.6%).Conclusion: Reasons: 1. To leave out the effect of reflux of Superficial femoral and the traffic vein. 2. without suit surgical selection. 3. misdiagnosis. 4. without postoperatie Management. In order to reduce recurernce rate , We should be better to do more examine and choose a suit surgery.
