Part One :To explore Family-centered Care procedures【Objective】To investigate effect of family factory on the quality of life in children with asthma, and the needs of health service of the families, in order to formulate family-centered care ( FCC) measures.【Method】General information questionnaire, Pediatric asthma quality of life questionnaire (PAQLQ) and Family Adaptability and Cohesion Scale (FACESII-CV) were used to evaluate 60 caregivers of asthmatic children. Fifteen caregivers of children with asthma were interviewed with open—ended questions. The data collected were analyzed by Claizzi's seven-step analysis of phenomenological data.【Result】1. Pearson correlation analysis showed that PAQLQ dimension scores with the FACESII-CV scores were positively correlated (p <0.05); FACESII-CV score study group cohesion of the factor scores with the national norm was no significant difference (P> 0.05), adaptation of the factor scores were significantly lower than the norm (P <0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that the quality of life in asthmatic children is influenced by many factors, these factors include economic conditions, lung function and living forms. 2. Five main structural concepts were extracted, including the lack of the knowledge of prevention and treatment of asthma, poor compliance, ignoring the psychological effects of asthma on children, family failure coping style and the distress and financial burden of the families.【Conclusions】1. Medical staff must pay attention to delivery of professional knowledge in hospital. Caregivers of children are encouraged and supported in participating in care and decision-making. Medical staff honor the perspectives and choices. Health care workers and parents work together to help parents recognize the problems in the family and find a solution to the problem and methods.2. Clinical health care workers should take personal measures to guide the correct treatment with caregivers, pay attention to children with psychological care, and guide family members to deal with the impact of the disease effectively.Part Two: Application of Family-centered Care【Objective】To evaluate the role of Family-centered Care in prevention of children with asthma.【Method】Sixty children with asthma were randomly divided into two groups. Twenty-nine children were in the intervention group. when receive regular treatment at the same time, they are given the form of one-on-one education, group education and telephone follow-up and given health education which include the knowledge of disease prevention, psychological care of children and families coping style. 31children were in the control group. They were given routine nursing except regular treatment. To evaluate the role of Family-centered Care on the life quality of children by using Pediatric Asthma Quality of Life Questionnaire(PAQLQ).【Result】After observation for a year , the scores of PAQLQ were all improved in two groups, and that of the intervention group improved more significantly (p<0.05).Pulmonary function showed improvements. The intervention group was much better than in control group (p<0.05), and the respiratory function test of intervention group after intervention was significantly better than those before surgery (p<0.05).【Conclusions】Through family-centered care in asthmatic children, parents and medical staff established a close partnership, which can urge parents to consciously adhere to the treatment of children so as to reduce the number and purpose of treatment to maintain long-term illness stability, to improve compliance in children and their parents, to meet the physical needs and psychological needs of children and their parents and to increase their satisfaction, thus result in improved quality of life in asthmatic children.
