Clinical Research Of Yiqirunchang Tang On Treating The Middle-aged And The Elderly Patients With Functional Constipation

Backguound:Functional constipation(FC)is the constipation without gastrointestinal,systemic organic disease and drug factors,and accompanied with abdominal distension,anorexia,dry mouth,fatigue,etc.In fact,more than 50%of constipation is functional disease.It is reported that the incidence of FC is 6.07%～14.7%,and increases with age.The people over 65 years of age have 40.2%prevalence rate.FC does not result in death directly,but impacts the quality of life,and may cause some disease,such as acne,heart disease,cerebral accident,senile dementia,carcinoma of large intestine.It has attracted the attention of clinic experts.Actually,it is difficult to cure radically.So we have try to find a effective treatment.Objective:To observe the efficacy of Yiqirunchang Tang on the treatment of Functional constipation.Methods:77 patients with FC were divided into two groups at random.38 cases in the treatment group were treated with Yiqirunchang Tang orally once per day and 39 cases in the control group received 10mg Bisacodyl Enreric-coated tabiet once per night.Both groups were given for 4 weeks.During the treatment and follow-up of 8 weeks,the change of clinical symptom was observed, including weekly frequency of defecation,defecation time,the degree of difficulty of defecation and the stool characteristics.Then the symptom-score was calculated to evaluate the efficacy and relapse rate.Results:34 cases in the treatment group had finished the research,and 31 cases in the control group had done.There is no significant difference in sexuality,age,weight,the severity of the disease(P＞0.05).After two-weeks treatment the overall efficacy rate in the treatment group was 73.53%,the one in the control group was 80.65%,the efficacy has no significantly different.After four-weeks treatment the overall efficacy rate in the treatment group was 79.41%,the one in the control group was 74.19%,the efficacy has no significantly different.Four weeks after treatment,the relapse rate in the treatment group was 18.52%,lower significantly than the one in the control group which was 50.00%(P＜0.05).Eight weeks after treatment,the relapse rate in the treatment group was 33.33%,lower significantly than the one in the control group which was 60.87%(P＜0.05). No adverse reactions occurred in the treatment group during the experiment. And in the control group,1 case had Mild diarrhea,6 cases had abdominal pain.Conclusion:Yiqirunchang Tang has good effects on treating the middle-aged and the elderly patients with functional constipation.It can improve the patients'clinical symptom,decrease the relapse and rarely has adverse reactions.It deserves the promotion apply.
