The Clinical Study Of Combined Therapy Of Acupuncture And Herbal Concoction In The Treatment Of Sciatica

Objective:To investigate the therapeutic effect of combined therapy of acupuncture and herbal concoction in the treatment of sciatica.Method:All qualified patients were from the out-patients department of MingShi TCM Clinic,the YongHe Branch and TuCheng Branch.A total of 80 patients were randomly divided into treatment(combined therapy) and control(herbal concoction) groups;each group contained 40 patients.After treatment,the degree of pain and other symptoms were assessed according to the 6-point behavioral rating scale(BRS-6) and McGill Pain Questionnaire.Results:1.The total effective rate of the treatment group after treament was 56.67%increased than control group 26.67%.2.After treament the scal of BRS-6 of both group decrease significantlythan before Moreover treatment group significantly better than that of the control group(p＜0.01).3.the degree of pain in the treatment group significantly lessened,more so than the control group(p＜0.05).Conclusions:The combined therapy of acupuncture and herbal concoction is more effective than herbal concoction alone in the treatment of sciatica.
