Objective: The levels of serum PlGF and Hs-CRP in patients with Chronic Heart Failure (CHF) were measured in order to investigate the changes of the levels of serum PlGF and Hs-CRP in patients with CHF, and the correlation between serum PlGF and Hs-CRP. Furthermore, we will investigate the role of PlGF on the development of CHF.Methods: The study was carried out in 60 patients admitting to hospital with the primary diagnosis of CHF as CHF group. And 30 healthy staffs were recruited as normal control group. Then, we divided CHF group into two groups according to treatment. Meanwhile, 29 patients were CHF with NYHA function classⅡ, 22 patients were CHF with NYHA function classⅢ, 9 patients were CHF with NYHA function classⅣ. Venous blood was collected immediately after hospital admission and treatment one week separately. The serum levels of PlGF and Hs-CRP were measured in patients. We compared the PlGF and Hs-CRP serum levels among those study groups and analyzed the correlation of serum PlGF and Hs-CRP.Results: 1.Compared with the normal control group (9.43±2.42 pg/ml, 2.22±1.04 mg/L), the serum levels of PlGF and Hs-CRP significantly elevated in CHF group (16.16±4.77 pg/ml, 8.39±3.38 mg/L, P<0.01). 2.Compared with before treatment, the serum levels of PlGF and Hs-CRP significantly decreased after treatment one week (11.82±3.34pg/ml, 5.89±2.69mg/L,P<0.01).3.Compared with CHF with NYHA function classⅡgroup (12.48±1.87pg/ml, 6.41±1.93mg/L), the serum levels of PlGF and Hs-CRP significantly increased in CHF with NYHA function classⅢgroup(19.19±3.92pg/ml, 10.31±3.13mg/L, P<0.01) and with NYHA function classⅣgroup (20.63±4.30pg/ml,10.13±4.21mg/L, P<0.01); Compared with the normal control group, three groups significantly increased (P<0.01). 4. The data showed significantly positive relation between PlGF and Hs-CRP (r=0.543, P<0.01).Conclusions: The levels of serum PlGF and Hs-CRP significantly increase in CHF patients. The levels of serum PlGF and Hs-CRP are higher in NYHA function classⅢandⅣthan those of NYHA function classⅡ. The levels of serum PlGF significantly higher in patients before treatment than those of after treatment one week. There was significant relation between PlGF and Hs-CRP in patients with CHF.
