| To discuss the clinical situation and treatment of the sternal fracture associated with spine injure, 1 case of it in our department was presented, and the related literatures were reviewed. The fracture of the sternum associated with spine injure had traditionally been considered an indicator of a severe mechanism of trauma, and most of these combined fracture were result from the indirect violence. The incidence of the association between sternal and spinal fracture is rare. It is concluded that the plain X-ray films of sternum and spine reconstructions of CT scan are sensitive to diagnose this case. Reservation treatment or surgical treatment according to the patterns of theses combined fracture. We suggest that patients found to have both sternal and spine fracture be closely monitored for cardiac complications, most importantly myocardial contusion. |
