Evaluation Of Quality Of Life In HCC Patients With CIK Treatment

Objective: To investigate the improvement of quality of life in HCC patients before and after CIK treatment and to analyze the related factors to the efficacy of CIK.Methods: 38 cases, diagnosed as HCC in the NO.1 Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University with CIK treatment from April 2007 to January 2008, were assessed according to the SF-36 before and after treatment. The differences of scores were analyzed for all the aspects of the SF-36 before and after treatment. And the relevant factors affecting the efficacy of CIK were also evaluated.Results: For all patients with primary hepatocellular carcinoma, the quality of life had been improved after CIK treatment. With the SF-36 measuring scale, the scores in six aspects including Physical Function, Bodily Pain, General Health, Vitality, Social Function and Mental Health had significantly improved after all the cases had been treated with CIK (P<0.05). The score of Physical Component Summary had been obviously affected by these factors, such as gender, the status of HBV infection, stage of hepatocellular carcinoma and comprehensive treatment. The score of Mental Component Summary had been obviously affected by gender, the status of HBV infection and stage of hepatocellular carcinoma either. What's more, with multivariate analysis by General Linear Model, the comprehensive treatment were relevant factors in Physical Component Summary (P<0.05), while stage of hepatocellular carcinoma relevant in Mental Component Summary (P<0.05).Conclusion: The quality of life in HCC patients can be improved by CIK treatment. The comprehensive treatment including CIK is expected to become an important treatment to primary hepatocellular carcinoma.
