A Observation Of Treatment Of Modified Three Leaf Decoction On Postnasal Drip Syndrome (PNDs) And Chronic Cough

To observe and study the effect mechanism of the treatment of Modified Three Leaf Decoction on PNDs and Chronic Cough.Methods60 patients with PNDs and Chronic Cough were randomly divided into two groups. The control group was treated with western medicine(ephedrine sol tid, Ketotifen Fumarate p. o qn)and the treatment group was treated with Modified Three Leaf decoction (Ginseng Leaf 10g, Folium Eriobotryae 10g, Dragon's Tongue Leaf 10g, Aster 10g, Common Coltsfoot Flower 10g, Thunberg Fritillary Bulb 10g, Apricot kernel 10g, Platycodon Root 10g, Common Hongfennel Root 10g, Divaricate Saposhnikovia Root 10g, Flos Magnoliae Liliflorae 10g, Siberian Cocklour Fruit 10g, Adenophora elata 15g, Liquoric Root 6g). We selected eight symptoms and sings of TCM as end points, including cough and itching throat ect, based on the feature of the disease, and divided them into four grades of "0, +, ++, +++" according to the serious level of symptoms and sings, and quantizea them as "0 score, 3 score, 6 score, 9 score" correspondingly. The clinical effects in two groups were compared, and also the scores of the symptoms and signs back and forth the treatment. The results were analyzed contrastively.ResultIn the treatment group, the clinical control rates was 20.69%, the excellent rate was 75. 86%, the effective rate was 3.44% and the total effective rate was 100%, observably higher than that of control group(P<0.01). After treatment, the whole healing of the treat group was obviously better than that of the control group(P<0.01 or P<0.05), and the scores observably decreased than that before treatment (P<0. 01 or P<0.05) . The symptoms of cough and foreign body sensation of the throat were prominently improved (P<0.01) , and also the symptoms of itching throat, pharyngalgia, qi adverseness thirst, postnasal drip sense and signs of the throat (P<0.05) . Consequences showed that there was significant difference between these two groups in curative effect. The Modified Three Leaf Decoction can obviously improved the patients symptoms and signs.ConclusionThe Modified Three Leaf decoction is effective on treatment on PNDs and Chronic Cough and can improve patients symptoms and signs.
