Clinical Observation And The Immunomodulatory Mechanism Of Xuebijing Injection On Sepsis

Purpose: To investigate the clinical effects of Xuebijing injection on sepsis patients,to measure the serum level of cytokines so as to explore the immunomodulatorymechanism of Xuebijing injection.Methods: 75 sepsis patients were enrolled in this study and classified into two groupsrandomly. 45 patients were treated with Xuebijing 100～200ml once daily for 7 days incombination with routine therapies, 30 as controls with routine therapies. All patients werevalued by Zhongyizhenghou,APACHEⅡscore and measured several cytokines asTNF-α,IL-1,IL-4,IL-6,IL-SandIL-10.Results: There was no significantly difference at the beginning of treatment betweenthe two groups (P＞0.05). Zhongyizhenghou score were decreased after treatment in bothgroups, but it's lower in Xuebijing group than in controls (P＜0.01). Effective rate is 95.6％and 76.7％respectively, Xuebijing group is significantly higher than controls (P＜0.01).Cytokines as TNF-α, IL-1, IL-6, IL-8 were decreased in both groups, in the end oftreatment they're lower in Xuebijing group than in controls (P＜0.01). IL-4, IL-10 wereincreased in both groups, and in the end IL-10 grew higher in Xuebijing group than incontrols (P＜0.01).Conclusions: Xuebijing injection can significantly improve clinical effectiveness ofsepsis patients. The mechanism is related to its immune modulation.
