The Clinical Analysis Of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus In Children

Objective: To explore the initial symptoms and immunologic features of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in children ; To provide clinical experience for diagnosis of pediatric SLE at early stages.Methods: The initial symptoms and immunologic features of SLE in children were analyzed with retrospective study, and compared with SLE in adults. 49 cases of SLE in children and 50 cases of SLE in adults were selected at random from the hospital patients (2002～2007) .Results: Onset of SLE was usual in a child older than age 9 (96% ). The most common initial symptom in children was fever (71%) . Compared with SLE in adults, pediatric SLE were more likely to be misdiagnosed; the incidence of digestive system symptoms, lymphadenectasis, positive anti-dsDNA antibody and antiribosomal P antibody were higher in pediatric SLE (P<0.05 ) .Conclusion: Onset of SLE in a child is unusual younger than nine-year-old. The most common initial symptom in children is fever. There are significant differences in the initial symptoms and immunologic features of SLE between children and adults. Pediatric SLE is more likely to be misdiagnosed. The incidence of digestive system symptoms, lymphadenectasis, positive anti-dsDNA antibody and antiribosomal P antibody are higher in pediatric SLE.
