| Objective:To observe and compare the clinical effects of artificial hip replacement and Ao compressed hollow screws in treating senile femoral fracture of Garden III.Methods:Ninety-eight patients of senile femoral fracture of Garden III from January 1998 to June 2000 were analyzed retrospectively, including 56 male and 42 female , with an average age of 72.7 ± 10.6 years (rang, 65~89 years); 52 cases were of left joint and 46 cases were of right joint. According to anatomical site classifiation:there were 41 patients of subcapital, 35 patients of transcervical, 22 patients of basic. They also can be classified to treat with total hip replacement(GroupTHR:21cases), hemiarthroplasty(Group FHA:34 cases, of which 23 cases mono-polar hemiarthroplasty, 11 cases bi-polar hemiarthroplasty) and internal fixation(GroupIF:43cases). Duration of hospitalization , operation, intraoperative blood loss, complicationafter operations, walking time, volume of blood transfusion and joint function were analysed with statistics among three groups. And the complication, the rare of disunion, cellular of femoral head and the excellence rate of the joint funtion were compared among subcapital, transcervical and basic of Group IF.
