IntroductionMultiple organ failure the most severe complications after trauma and infection, is one of the intractable problems in modern emergency medicine. Its etiology is multi - factorial and its mechanism remains unclear. With changing society and increasing stress, the cases of MOF from acute intoxication increase with different clinical manifestations.Acute organic phosphorus poisoning (AOPP) , commonly seen in MOF, is one of the most important frontiers in emergency medicine. Multi factorial relationship in MOF caused by AOPP is unclear. In this study, 130 cases of AOPP were enrolled. 52 cases developed MOF in the group. Case control study was applied to evaluate the risk factors in MOF.MethodsThe clinical information of 130 acute AOPP patients by emergency salvage, from Sept. 1999 to Sept. 2004, were summarized. Patients were divided into study and control group according to the occurrence of AOPP. Data were collected as following: sex, age, dosage of phosphorus taken, the poison kinds, chronic ill history, time to gastric wash, ALT LDH TBIL BUN Cr CK CKMB CHE and brain Glasgow score 24 hrs after poisoning, body temperature, enough gastric wash or not, blood transfusion. Statistics was carried out with SPSS 12.0 software , student t test and x~2 test was use between the two groups, and risk factor contribution was calculated by Logistic regression.
