The Study To 4 Yunnan Natural Medicines Provides Protection From Total Body Irradiation In Mice

Objective: To screen radioprotective-agents from 4 yunnan plateau natural medicines which lie in the areas of Tibetan minority' and naxi minority' and 3000 metres over sea level. Methods: In this experiment ,the mice were randomly divided into five groups of normal control,irradiation(IR),high dosage,middle dosage,low dosage.The last three groups were given medicines after they were irradiated by ⁶⁰Co γ .The others were given physiological brine.The body weight were measured at 4h before irradiation and l,2,5,7,10and 14 day after irradiation.Peripheral blood routine were measured at 4h before irradiation and 5 or 7and 12 or 14day after irradiation .DNA content and quantity of nucleocyte in bone marrow, CFU-s in spleen, spleen index and thymus index were observed at 12 or 14day after irradiation. Results: (1) The alcohol extract and water extract of Panax japonica, The alcohol extract of Meconopsis integrifolia and the water extract of some natural medicine were administrated to mice after irradiation .But observed items of groups given medicines, compared to the irradiating control group, is no different(P>0.05) in statistic.(2) The alcohol extract of Panax notoginseng cound enhance the number of PLT of peripheral blood routine, compared to the irradiating control group(P<0.05). (3) The results showed the protective action of the alcohol extract of some natural medicine on peripheral blood routine,DNA content and quantity of nucleocyte in bone marrow of radiation -damaged mice is obvious. (4) The alcohol extract of some natural medicine given before irradiation cound't increase Peripheral blood routine counts, DNA content in bone marrow.et al, compared to the irradiating control group(P>0.05). Conclusions: (1) The alcohol extract and water extract of Panax japonica, The alcohol extract of Meconopsis integrifolia and the water extract of some natural medicine were not found the function of anti-irradiation.(2) The alcohol extract of Panax notoginseng cound promote the recovery of PLT counts in peripheral blood of the irradiated mice.(3)The alcohol extract of some natural medicine can improve the quantities of peripheral blood routine and promote the recovery of the cells of building blood in bone marrow and maybe a good anti-irradiation medicine.(4) The alcohol extract of some natural medicine given before irradiation is no useful...
