Objective Diabetic retinopathy, as one of the most commenly seen and severe microvascular complications of diabetes mellitus, can explain percent 80 blindness among all diabetic eye comlications and is the first reason of adult blindness in developed coutries. Its pathogenesis has not been fully explained yet. It is very important to explore its pathogenesis so as to discover diabetic retinopathy in advance , prevent and delay its occurance and development. Insunlin resistance, which has drawn extensive attention from medical researchers now, is an independent risk factor of cardiovascular disease. It has been proved that insulin resistance can prompt the occurrence and development of cardiovascular disease as well as the damage of target organs. Therefore, we mean to study the efficacy of insulin resistance on diabetic retinopathy, so as to provide a theoretical evidence for the treatment of diabetic retinopathy. We discussed the relationship between diabetic retinopathy and insulin resistance, assessed by homeostasis model (HOMA-IR) .Methods 81 diagnosed type 2 diabetes mellitus cases, accroding to 1999 WHO diabetes mellitus criteria, were enrolled. They were screened in Qianfoshan Hospital from August in 2004 to February 2006. Patients with accurate metabolism disorder, liver or kidney abnormal, eye diseases affecting fundus observation and other sereve diseases were excluded. All cases were...
