Study On Medical Education Model Of 8-year Program In Southern Medical University

The rapid progresses have been made in medical science in our country with the great achievements of economic and society in recent years. The nation puts forward higher requirements on medical education and medical doctors while more medical care equirements are needed from people. The main conflict in our medical education is the quality of medical doctors rather than the quantities. On such a situation, the long-term medical education model is emerged to produce elites in medical field.There are still many confusion and conflicts on how to do well in eight-year medical program because we have not enough experience yet. As an independent medical university, we have begun enrolling eight-year medical program students. To ensure the high quality of those medical doctors who will be admitted national and international, it is urgent to make out a medical educational model, which fits well with our university. Therefore, it is meaningful to study on the medical education model of eight-year program in Southern Medical Univerwity.There are many aspects being involved in medical education model of eight-year program. These include the determination of medical educational objectives, curricula set-up and teaching methods such as problem-based learning and so on.In the present study, we employed a series of methods to determine the medical educational objectives of eight-year program, which include experts consultation, on the spot visiting, documental research, Delphi rule, class analysis and statistical analysis.
