ObjectiveTo evaluate improvement of visual acuity and complications for proliferative diabetic retinopathy eyes after vitrectomy combined with different tamponade. MethodsThree groups of 135 eyes with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) were made according to different tamponade: silicon-oil tamponade group, inert-gas tamponade group and balanced salt solution group.1. Three groups of 56 eyes with proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR)IV and V were made according to different tamponade: silicon-oil tamponade group 8 eyes, inert-gas tamponade group 13 eyes, balanced salt solution group 35 eyes.2. Three groups of 79 eyes with proliferative diabetic retinopathy(PDR)VI were made according to different tamponade: silicon-oil tamponade group 45 eyes, inert-gas tamponade group 21 eyes, balanced salt solution group 13 eyes. All cases followed up 3~45 months(average is 18 months). Results1. Visual acuity after vitrectomy: 0. 1 or better visual acuity was achieved in more than 60% of PDR IV and PDR V. 0. 05 or better visual acuity was achieved in more than 50% of PDR VI.2. Vitreous hemorrhage after vitrectomy: there are not any distinct differences among three groups, silicon-oil tamponade group in PDR IV and...
