A Clinical Investigation Of Stabilization Splint In The Treatment Of Anterior Disk Displacement With Reduction

Objective: To analysis the efficacy of the stabilization splint in the treatment of anterior disk displacement with reduction.Materials and methods: Thirty-two cases of anterior disk displacement with reduction were treated with stabilization splint. The period of treatment was 3 months. Fricton Index was used to evaluate the effectiveness of the therapy. Schuller's position radiographs and arthrography in superior cavity was taken before and post treatment.Results: The efficiency of the stabilization splint is good. Dysfunctional index decreased from 0.21 ± 0. 04 to 0.09±0. 03 ( P=0.02 ) . But the arthrography showed that not all the patients without clicking had restored the anatomical relation between the condylar and thedisk.Conclusion: stabilization splint is an effective method to treat the anterior disk displacement with reduction, especially to eliminate clicking.
