The mortality rates of stomach neoplasm andesophageal neoplasm had been gradually decreasing, but the mortality rates of liver cancer and lung cancer increased obviously. The mortality rates of cardievascular and cerebro-vascular diseases were kept at a high level. From 1987 to 2002,although there was a tendency of slight declining, the mortality rate of injury was the fourth cause of death in the population. Furthermore, the death rate of traffic accident had been increasing year after year and accounted for 50 percent of all the unintentional injury mortality. The death rates of diseases of the respiratory system increased rapidly, which it was the sixth death cause in the year of 1987 and it become the fourth causes of death in the year of 2002.Conclusion: Different intervention strategy and measures should be taken based on major death causes ofdisease, target population and the main influence factors in disease prevention and health promotion in this area.
