DN (Depressive Neurosis) is characteristic with long-term and mildly mental depression and its clinical manifestations are the lackness of interests, hopeness, energies and confidence, sometimes associated with symptoms of headache, backache, tireness and disorders of autonomic nervous system such as diarrhea, constipation, insomnia.Nowadays DN is believed to be a result of long-term mental and social stimulation. Some research found that the pathogenesis of DN had the same biologic basic of MD (Major Depression), the deficient function of 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT) and Norepinephrine ONE). In Western Medicine, besides psychotherapy, antidepressant is mainly used to treat this disease.DN belongs to the categories of "depressive syndrome" in Traditional Chinese Medicine. It is usually caused by emotional upsets, anxiety, overstrain that lead to the stagnation of liver qi, concurrent the stasis of the blood, the retention of phlegm. Its affected position is heart, liver and spleen, and liver is seriously affected.Needling method for soothing liver is an effective therathy created by professor Fu Wenbin.
