AIM Proliferating antigen ki-67 is an important biological marker in cell proliferation. This study was designed to observe the clinical significance and expression of Ki-67 in laryngeal carcinoma tissues, to detect the expression of Ki-67 in different lesions of larynx and to explore its roles in development, metastasis and prognosis of laryngeal cancer.Method 40 laryngeal cancer from January 1992toDecember 1998 treated in ENT department of Shenyang General Hospital of PLA were retrospectively studied. The age ranged from 38 to 76 years by means of 58.23 ±9. 34 years, 31 male and 9 female. All the patients were followed up more than 5 years. There were 21 superglottic carcinomas and 19 glottic carcinomas in the groups, and all were squamous cell carcinomas. TNM classification and staging as follow:superglottic carcinomas,21; glottic carcinomas,19; subglottic, 0; T2:10,25%,T3:22, 55%,T4:8, 20%;N0:30, 75%, Nl:7,17.5%; N2: 3, 7.5%,N3:0. Pathological grade of tumor: high polarization 14, 35%, middling polarization 6, 15%,low polarization 20, 50%.The control group: 15 benign lesions of laryngeal were taken as control. The age ranged from 39 to 62 years by means of 54. 53±4. 49 years, 11 males and 4 females. The expression of Ki - 67antigen in pathology section was detected with immunohistochemical method and was analyzed at the same time.Result 1st,the expressed quantity of Ki-67 antigen has obvious difference (P =0.002<0.01) between larynx benign tumor and laryngeal cancer tissues. 2nd,there was no significant difference in sex, age, course, smoking gross between larynx benign tumor and laryngeal cancer tissues. 3rd, the expression of ki-67 was remarkably different tumor clinical stages and T staging (P < 0. 05). 4th, the expression of ki-67 in the cases with cervical neck lymph nodules metastasis and (or) local recurrence after laryngotomy was significant... |
