Research In Application Of Hospital Information System

With advancement of the reform of national social security and medical insurance systems and the outward opening of health insurance after joining in the WTO. Information management for health institutions is more and more need in China.It tends to be inevitable that the HIS (Hospital Information System) as an information technique is extended and used. In foreign countries such as the United States and Japan, HIS has grown so fast that large hospitals have basically developed its use for management of hospitals. As an example, Medical experts system and decision support system have become an impartment part of HIS. In China, the development of the HIS has been a main task of the "Jinwei Project" which was started in 1995. Now It becomes an whole hospital scale system featuring a combination of department of outpatient and inpatient and administration, as well a combination of management of human rcsources,financial support, and materials.It is valuable to promote the hospitalization diagnosis and treatment, and follow up, if a good HIS is utilized to manage the hospital. Although the HIS has been developed currently in large and medium Chinese hospitals, it has not been used extensively and its products are quite varied. Management information among systems is incompatible and is hard to access datainterface of medical insurance and social security of health units. There is a lack of management team composed of administrators, medical workers and computer experts in those hospitals. They use the HIS in lower level without the large scale practical HIS and waste the resources of management information. So it is a research subject to establish a good HIS. In this case, author tries to study the use of the HIS in China considering the combination of foreign advanced experience and Chinese situations.The paper covers six parts as follows:The paper introduced the necessity of the HIS development and the concept, current situation, essential principles and knowledge, and problems about the HIS in part one. In part two, operational flow of the hospital and its requirements on theHIS were analyzed. Also, key techniques for development of the HIS were discussed.The main contents of the paper are covered by part three, part four and part five. The platforms of the HIS were analyzed in part three. The paper pointed out the option principles, platforms of network and software of the HIS. In part four, the operation management of the HIS running management departments and staff, telcmedicine intervene and interfere, use of medical multimediatechniqucs and retrieval of CPR (Compute-based Patient Record). The integration, exploitation and operation of the HIS were introduced and suggested in part five. The innovative points, insufficiencyand further research of the thesis were given in part six.
