At the basis of the TCM theory and ciinicai materials, the author thinks that the pivotal genesic cause of diabetic heart disease is Qi deficiency of both the heart and spleen and incoordination between the heart and the kidney, which is derived from insufficiency of both the spleen and kidney deficiency. He deduces that the pathologic mechanism of this disease is deficiency of both Qi and yin, stagnation of the heart blood and deficiency of liver-yin. According to this principle, his tutor invented a new medicine named Tangxintong to treat this disease. Under the direction of his tutor, the author made a clinical research on the effect of Tangxintong in diabetic heart disease.30 cases are treated with Tangxintong tablet; 30 cases are treated with Jiangtangjia tablet. The statistical results show that the total rate of effect in observation group was 90. 00% , the total rate of effect in control group was 66.67%. Between two groups have remarkable difference (p<0. 05), the efficiency of Tangxintong in the observation group is better than that of control group. Additionally, the medicine can alleviate clinical symptoms, reduce CH, TG and fibrinogen, and especially improve the diabetic autonomic neuropathy.
