Treatment And Rehabilitation Of Shaft Nonunion Of Long Bones

Objective:To introduce a new operation and rehabilitation method to treat the nonunion of long bone shaft and discuss the pathogenesis, the healing course and important parts of treatment of the nonunion. Method:Repairing the extremes of the broken bone to make them combined firmly,fixing them with compressive steel plate,transplanting the cylinder and lamella made of owe iliac internal and external the bone marrow are performed in the operation ,then immobilize the affected limb with plaster on functional position and rehabilitate with positive and passive excises. Result: 16 cases were followed-up continually for 8-36 monthes ,all patients achieved solid bone union at an average of 3.2 monthes ,there were no malunion ,infection and refracture in this series. Conclusion: 1 .Sufficient bones are transplanted in this operation and it will provide consisting osteoinducing factors and mineral relatively;2.The bone grafts are stable enough to be an ideal transmitter of osteoconduction to bridge the extremes;3.Rehabilitation can effectively prevent the adjacent joints from adhesion and stiffness to improve its function and enhence the bone healing if carefully be dealed with the relation between activity and stability,passivity and passivity,extent and frenquency and,along with the persistent time.
