Objective:To investigate the efficacy of the traumatic tibia osteomyelitis by bone transport. Methods:A retrospective analysis 20 cases tibia osteomyelitis,by the Ilizarov circular ring fixator reconstructing bone loss following debridement, from Feb 2010 to July 2013.Male15 cases, female 5 cases, debridement bone defect length is 6-10 cm, 8 cm on average.Postoperative patients regular review adjust the lines of force, encourage them complete and full weight bearing.Results:20 patients received 16 months to 40 months(average 22.0 months) follow-up。16patients docking site directly bone union, the rest of the docking site failed to directly bone union.By iliac bone graft and internal fixation with steel plate bone union. The extend length is 6 to 10 cm(average 8 cm).External fixator index for 1.5- 2 months/cm.According to Paley bone union criteria: 14 cases excellent, 5 cases good, and 1 case poor. Conclusions:Tibia bone transport treatment of traumatic osteomyelitis is safe and effective. Why the docking site can’t directly union,Now the mechanism and the exact cause are still unclear. But after complete weight bearing and post-processing structed bone union. |
