[Background]There is a long history of acupuncture treatment for Low back pain, both a number of ancient literature and plenty of modern literature had recorded this. Acupuncture therapists mostly treat Low back pain based on ancient Chinese medicine books and personal experience, following no standard.Western countries have already published many guidelines of Low back pain,12 of which giving weak or strong recommendation to acupuncture, but lacking detail operation methods.《Evidence-based Guidelines of Clinical Practice with Acupuncture and Mox-ibustion:Low Back Pain》 was established based on current literature evidence in the way of evidence-based methodology by using the GRADE system tools. The purpose was to provide high quality treatment plans of acupuncture for clinical physicians.and patients. The first draft was done in the end of 2013, and was pub-lished in the end of 2014. The main contents were acupuncture treatment plans for acute and chronic low back pain, operation methods, self-care and attention mat-ters.There are many guidelines for Low Back Pain, and also some issues of their clinical application in foreign countries, but China is still in deficiency states.[Object]This study was an applicability observation of Evidence-based Guidelines of Clinical Practice with Acupuncture and Moxibustion for Low back pain, in order to find the advantages in clinical application and patient acceptance.[Methods]We collected 30 participants who accord the diagnosis, inclusion and exclusion of Chronic Low back pain. All patients were treated by recommended therapy methods,3 times per week for 4 weeks. We use VAS, lumbar range of motion and Oswestry Disability Index to evaluation the efficacy immediately before and after the first treatment, then the 7th day, the 14th day, the 28th day,1 month and 3 month follow-up. Meanwhile all patients was also pleased to fill in an interview to investigate their will of acupuncture.[Results]1. VAS:the intervention group decreased from 6.37±1.474 to 4.20±1.215 im- mediately after first treatment; after 28days’treatment, the VAS got a significant less than before (p<0.001); there still has a significant decrease in 1-month and 3-month follow-up for the intervention group.2. Lumbar range of the motion:There was a significant difference in increasing about 1.833±2.451 degrees,2.067±3.503degrees and 1.667±3.497degrees for the waist joint flexion, extension, lateral flexion activity after the treatment (p<0.001). But no clearly increase in sidespin (p>0.05).3. ODI:There was a obvious decreasing of the ODI from 12.97±5.916 to 4.60±2.673. also a significant decreasing in single program except heavy lifting before and after the treatment (p<0.05); but no clearly decrease in 1-month fol-low-up; there was an important lessen only for pain intensity and heavy lifting in 3-month follow-up (p<0.05).4.The results of participants’preconception survey showed that all participants were satisfied with the efficacy and willing to continue acupuncture.5. Safety assessment:There was no adverse events during the treatment.[Conclusion]1.The guideline recommended therapy release the pain, increase lumbar range of motion immediately, then reduce the lumbar function movement disability, and the long-term effect lasted for at least 1 to 3 months.2. There is high acceptance of guideline recommended therapy.
