In order to exploit the rich germplasm of native bermudagrass in Qingyi river area, and find some excellent accessions , which could be used to improve the conditions of cultivar scarity, poor cold hardiness existing in bermudagrass appliance at present, 19 native bermudagrasses of Qingyi river area had been experimented through plot trial ,and simultaneously one interspecific bermudagrass hybrid cultivar Tifway was tested as the control. Each material's biological characeristic and cold resistance had been studied. The result showed as follows:1. Formation speed of native bermudagrass was within 2 months .The phonological phase of native bermudagrass was largely the same: in May they started head sprouting and blooming, in June fruiting, in January they started dormant period, and in March next year, they got green. Average green period was 305 days (299-318d). To the morphological features of native bermudagrass, started nature height, diameter of stolon and internode length, blade length and width, reproductive inflorensence length, floret number of each spikelet had significant difference. Their ranges respectively were 7.52-21.67cm, 0.89-1.45mm, 3.15~6.34cm, 3.27~7.61cm, 1.97-3.72mm, 13.18~27.63cm ,3.8-5,6.46~14.28cm, 33-53.2.The chlorophllous content of native bermudagrass in Qingyi river area ranged significantly. Among the materials, the content of C10 was the highest, and C12 was the lowest. The results of evaluation of turf quality of native bermudagrass in Qingyi river area showed that the turf quality of C10 was higher than Tifway, and C15 was just the same turf quality as control. We could exploit the two materials directly aslawn, which would consume us less money to manage turfgrass.3 .Based on the isoenzyme POD electrophisms of 3 different temperature treatment of 5 materials, the results showed that after lower temperature the isoenzyme bands of C08 was the same as the control Tifway, and the ability of cold hardiness was the same .According to the electric conductivity and content of proline, the ability to cold hardiness of C10 was the best,and C13 was the least. The isoenzyme similarity of C10 was 0.923, which was the most near to control when they 4 were at normal temperature.4. According to the seed capability tests of Qingyi river area, the seed capability of C08 performances the maximum for24%, and the ability to attack ample water also showed the best. So we could save this material as excellent genetic resources.
