Reverse engineering is an important part of current advanced manufacture technology. Nowadays Articulated CMM(Coordinate Measure Machine) is becoming more and more popular in the field of RE, because it is not only convenient to be used, but also has a small cubage and a light weight, as well as its measure range will not be confined by the worktable. Presently, overseas Articulated CMM technology is developed maturely, but their price is amazing high, so it's very urgent for us to develop a homemade equipment.Imitating arthrosis configuration of human beings, Articulated CMM take hinged arm as its supporting part to fix the scanner. Non-contact measure and contact measure are its two import measure fashions. In this thesis, two scanners of different types are designed.It is concluded that the position of laser scanner can be calibrated by 7 calibration points. Base on this theory, a calibration arithmetic has been deduced. Then a compact implementary calibration project has been proposed. In this method, only one sphere is used as calibration reference object. And by changing the position of this sphere, as much as calibration points can be gained. Afterwards high precision calibration result can be calculated through least square method.Then a new parameter calibration method of laser scanner has been set up, which has overcome the shortages of current native methods, after a cogitative analysis of those methods. It has been complemented that the transition from double cameras and CCDs in Cartesian Coordinates CMM to single camera and CCD in Articulated CMM. In this method only one calibration reference object can calibrate both camera and laser plane parameters. It also solves the common problems such as the man-made operation steps are too many, operation process is complicate, the number of calibrate tools exceeds one, and valid calibration point number and precision can not satisfy the need.
