With the rapid development of automation technology, great changes have taken place in people's work. Previous human occupation is gradually replaced by the automated system, the status of people in the entire system shifts gradually from operator to supervisor. While the system reduces the physical demands, it also requires higher brain and responsibility. Such as electricity enterprises, the performance and reliability of the machines are better than people. The main weaknesses in the system are the performance of people, people once exposes the weaknesses, the entire system would be in danger of collapse. Automation has become a trend in today's scientific and technological development as the main theme, in order to safeguard the safety of the system, we have to research the weaknesses and limits of people. Therefore, the study of mental workload level on the performance is help to improve the system's efficiency. The thesis studies the mental workload of the electric operation staff. The full text is divided into five parts. Part one is introduction, including the background and the target of the thesis. Part two introduces the basic content of the mental workload. Part three talks about the measure methods of the mental workload. Part four is the core of the article, it uses two kinds of measure methods, such as the main task evaluation, the subjective evaluation, to measure the staff's mental workload. The data analyze is about comparing the difference of mental workload in the people who have different characteristics and background.According to the analysis and testing of mental workload, the thesis offers the data for the study of the staff's mental workload in the next phase, and provides the bases for the improving of the staff's work process.
