With the scale enlarging of Chinese infrastructure construction and capital asserts investment, the demand to heavy-duty vehicle is increasing accordingly. The assembly line of Shaanxi Heavy Duty Automobile Co., Ltd. built in early 1980s now cannot meet the market requirements on production capacity and product diversification. This thesis, on the basis of analyzing considerable documentations and materials and with the reference of the latest research and application on assembly line optimizing balance in both domestic and overseas researches, aims at the actuality of assembly line and therefore systemically analyses and researches the vehicle assembly line of Shaanxi Heavy Duty Automobile Co., Ltd in order to solve the production capacity problems of the line.Firstly, this thesis introduces the background of Shaanxi Heavy Duty Automobile Co., Ltd. and the problems existing on the assembly line such as production cannot meet the market demand while the ability on each working station is not balanceable and the management problem on assembly spot. Then it points out some ideas for the management on how to solve the problems to improve management and ensure a good basis for optimizing the line by using technical means and relevant methods. Secondly, by using Theory of Simulation, it induces and analyses every assemble movement on each station, focuses on the analysis on seven typical movements existing in assembly work and further standardizes operation methods and working time of all tasks. Finally, by exerting assembly line optimizing method such as improved Heuristic Algorithm, improved Genetic Algorithms and improved Branch and Bound Method, it optimizes the work procedure and task of each station on the line. After optimizing and balancing, the assembly efficiency of the assembly increases from 62% to 98% and the daily production capacity increases from 72 units to 109 units. Through contrastive analysis, it finds out that among the three methods, Genetic Algorithms brings out the best result and is considered as the best choice for optimizing method.Through research on the optimizing problem of Shaanxi Heavy Duty Automobile Co., Ltd, this thesis proposes relevant improving measures on on-spot management and assembly craftsmanship and several rearrange plan for each station. The thesis is not only valuable for Shaanxi Heavy Duty Automobile CO., Ltd., but also holds reference value for the assembly line balance of other like enterprise.
