Small reactor has so many characters such as safe, flexible applications, short construction period, multi-purpose and other advantages. The small self-regulating reactor based on UHx-H2system is a new concept reactor, it has a very nice potential for development. To build this reactor, neutronics study on the system of uranium and hydrogen should to do first. This paper does a neutronics study for the small self-regulating reactor based on U/H system (HRSR) by means of calculation program named MCNP. First we analyze the principium of HRSR and the fuel characteristics, then uranium bed experiment is designed to research the filling density disciplinarian of the reactor fuel, uranium hydride. This parameter is used to be a basic input parameter for HRSR core model designing. Repeated structure function of MCNP program is used to found exact physics calculation model of HRSR core. Then we do a calculation for the core critical character and the neutron spectrum. Afterward, we analyze the contribution of different energy section neutron for neutron flux distributing, core neutron flux distributing and fission average aggradation energy distributing. The result indicates that hydrogen pressure and hydrogen content have a linearity relation between system critical coefficient. When space between heat pipes diminish, the system critical coefficient diminish too. On critical state, system neutron flux is similar with theoretics result of column heteroqeneous reactor. The system fission average aggradation energy distributing is equally with neutron flux distributing.Whereafter, this paper optimizes the heat pipes compositor for the HRSR core model to get the most reasonable result. Complanate fission average aggradation energy distributing can increase core output power. The research in this paper not only can supply theory reference for the HRSR designing, but also has great significance for the application and development of minitype reactor.
