Landscape Patterns Of Karst Agriculture In East Yunnan From The Perspective Of Landscape Ecology And Aesthetics

East Yunnan plateau is a relative unique geographic environment unit. It isrich in Karst landscape, numerous mountains and abrupt slopes. Ecosystem isvery fragile here. To make matters worse, the special double hydrogeologystructure leads to uneven distribution of water and land in this region, whichbrings many negative influences on the agriculture. Distributing the Karstlandscape agriculture serves the purpose of stabilizing ecology and creatingbeautiful scenery, strengthening the district charm and promoting agriculturetourism. It often brings new opportunities to regional economy. The rural landtransforming policy provides evidence to scale agriculture operation like familyfarm and specialized farmers cooperatives. The proposal of “beautifulcountryside” also offers opportunity to the development of landscape agriculturedistribution.Based on the Karst landform in East Yunnan, relying on “FundamentalResearch of Yunnan Urbanization of Mountains Supported by Multi-subjects andHi-Tech” program, which is a significant social and economical project ofYunnan, the Karst agriculture has been divided into three types, namely KarstRiver Valley Agriculture, Karst Gentle-hill Basin,Karst Peak-cluster. With “3S”technology and taking the agriculture characteristics in this region intoconsideration, this thesis analyzes the structure and function of different Karstagriculture landscape, advices the optimization mentality to improve thestructure of landscape agriculture. The distribution model of landscapeagriculture is summarized from scenery-forming aesthetics and color aesthetics.The main findings are as below:(1)The East Yunnan river valley has following characteristics: stiff slope inthe slope, flat land in the bottom, long and narrow terraces. The agriculturedistribution is ribbon terraces, and many dots distribution, the forest is not intact.Landscape agriculture configuration takes the whole river valley system as awhole, forms “one center, one terrace” structure. That is taking the farmland inriver valley as the center, forming the agriculture landscape as step-like threedimensional distribution in slope farmland and forest grassland. It is versatile, colorful, layered, giving you a vision as “mosaic”. In this way, the landscapeagriculture configuration as “mosaic-terraced field” is formed.(2)The characteristics of terrain in Karst Gentle-hill Basin of East Yunnan isnot open;Cultivated land patches are mainly distributed in the pelvic floor,showthe characteristics as follow: the cultivated land in pelvic floor are concentratedin planar, forest land and cultivated land in basin edge present closed loopdistribution.For the entire mountain basin system as a whole, form the"concentric circles-reticular” structure of Landscape agricultureconfiguration,namely centered on pelvic floor of cultivated land,settlement,grass land patches assume the circular layout toward the edge ofpelvic floor and basin slope around the edges of the cultivated land to the pelvicfloor,such as rivers, ridge, road corridor connection to form a network of forestlandscape structure. According to the characteristics of high continuous degressof the pelvic floor cultivated land, use different crops collocation, constitute aword, flowers, geometry,or other patterns, create "farmland pattern"of landscapeagriculture.(3)Karst peak cluster depression of East Yunnan the characteristics of steepand precipitous terrain,broken landform,small area of flat basin, farmland spreadover the low-lying and gentle slope.Landscape agriculture configuration, such ashoodoo, butte for points, depression for surface, form a "point-face"structure,hoodoos and peak clusters, butte are configured as "Mosaic",depression is configured to "farmland type design".Landscape agriculture ofpeak cluster depression will be peaked as "hybrid" landscape agriculture lookfrom the overall landscape.This research discusses the Karst landscape agriculture distribution issue. Itis a research on agriculture tourism development from agriculture distributionpoint of view. It is a new trend and way to tourism resource construction. It notonly has theoretical meaning, but also can be a reference for sustainabledevelopment in Karst agriculture region.
