With the progress of human civilization and the global economy, the demand for energy is growing, to find the clean, safe, efficient and reliable new energy is the only choice for human civilization development. After half a century of development, the nuclear technology is getting mature and has been widely used in the military and civilian areas.The shaft seal device of the main pump on nuclear plant is studied in this paper, mainly on the flow filed analysis of the first stage hydrostatic seal. Research is carried out from aspects of theoretical analysis and numerical simulation, and obtains the impact of seal face geometric parameter and the operating parameter on the sealing performance. The main contents are as follows:Introduction of the hydrostatic mechanical seal principle. A brief description is given to the development condition and relevant application of the mechanical seal, and the hydrostatic seal is introduced in detail. Then elaborates on the hydrostatic seal with tapered face used on the main pump with analysis of the structural characteristics and the film-forming theory, the dynamic work of the seal is illustrated after that. Introduction of the research methods of fluid mechanics and establishment of the simplified flow control equation. The simplifying method is drawn out based on analysis of the N-S equation. And through analysis of the viscous flow between two parallel plates and the derivation of the Reynolds equation, the physical meaning and simplifying method of the flow control equation are further clarified. The seal flow field is simplified into a planar form and the corresponding equations are established. Then describes on the numerical solving of the equations focusing on the principle and process of the finite element method, the method to solve the discrete equations is also introduced.CFD analysis of the flow field. Based on the seal structure character, the two-dimensional numerical model is built and the main geometric and operating parameters are determined according to actual engineering condition. Numerical analysis is carried out on the gap flow field using FLUENT and the impact of parameters on the sealing performance is researched by means of parameter variation. The results obtained are summarized and depicted in curve to observe its change.Analysis of the heat distribution. Establishment of the main heat production and dissipation factors, and the theoretical motion and energy control equations in cylindrical coordinates. Temperature distribution principle in the flow field is obtained through numerical simulation in FLUENT and the impact of thermal distortion is also discussed. Flow field of the hydrostatic seal is simulated in this paper by numerical calculation. The impact of structural and operating parameters on the sealing performance is researched providing reference for further analysis and seal design.
