The construction process is a process from the structural system not to have, small to large, simple to complex. Structure has undergone dramatic changes. For the life cycle of the structure,the construction process is short. But the change process that have huge impacts for the structure force must not be overlooked. Different erection method will have a completely different effect of the internal force and deformation of the structure and sometimes a key factor in structural design. Therefore, the design must also consider the mechanical behavior of the structure in the construction process.The research background of this paper is the erection process of steel roof structure of Taiyuan south railway station. Based on theoretical study at present, using the finite element software MIDAS the construction process was simulated, focusing on the tracking of changes of the internal force of the process and the displacement. The main content of the paper briefly summarized as follows:(1) A large number of documents have been inquired to understand the dynamic and problems in this field;(2) The safety of the temporary support structure have been checked by the use of finite element software;(3) The hoisting process of a single umbellate truss is analysed to confirm the reasonableness of block unit and the safety of the hoisting process. The hoisting area is divided into sixteen element;(4) removing temporary support of the trusses have been simulated by the three programs using of the finite element sofeware. Compared with the calulation results form internal force and deformation of trusses, the second program is Select. compared with the traditional design method, the difference has been discussed;(5) The stress and deformation of the structure have been measured by instruments on site. compared with the results of practical testing and theoretical analysis and the traditional design,the difference is discussed.The dicussion of the internal force of the erection process enrich research of the erection mechanics through an engineering example and prove the analysis methods. By analysis above,it provides the instructive suggestions to the analysis of the erection process for other similar projects.
