Damages of natural environment due to anthropogenic effects and its consequence are increasingly becoming outstanding problems in the world. It is considered that ecological threat that has become the biggest security threat throughout the world. Furthermore, the degeneration of biodiversity is amazing,many species are frequently in emergencies, a lot of fragile ecological regions have been deduced to ecological disaster regions, ecological pillages which go beyond nations and districts still Continue. Astonishing ecological destruction accelerates ecological poverty and economic poverty. So the restoration and reestablishment of demaged ecosystem has been received more and more attention in international society, and ecological security strategy has become an important part of the global strategy. As an important economic developing region in northwest arid area of China, the ecological restoration and reestablishment of Hexi corridor does have a very important role in the west mass development in China. Based on the investigation of the ecological current situation of Hexi corridor, this paper puts forward some new viewpoints on the ecological restoration and rebuilding. Firstly, this paper puts forward ecological economy theory, restoration ecology theory, sustainable development theory, landscape ecology theory and human-land relation region system theory considered as the theoretical base of ecological reconstruction in the arid area of Hexi corridor. Scondly, it summarizes main ecological deterioration problems in the region, including desertification, under waterishline downfall, forest diminishment, oa~ atrophy, meadow degradation, biodeversity reduce, etc. According to representative, integrative, systematic and easily-acquired information principle, it sets up the ecological environment frangibility assessment index system, and makes out ecological frangibility assessment result for assessment units of 19 cities and counties of Hexi corridor, at the same time, makes out a ecological frangibility administrative region map. Thirdly, it discusses the mainly affecting factors that led to ecological deterioration in the arid area of Hexi corridor. Mostly reasons are historical exploitation, population increase, overdepasture, ecological water shortage, unreasonable land-used structure, lower-level industry structure, market malfunction, basin management malfunction, and so on. Fourthly, it brings forth the basic thread ,basic goals, basic principles and the basic spatial dimension of ecological rebuilding in the Hexi corridor. Fifthly, based on the ecological structure of the inland arid river basin, it founds different rebuilding models for the up-middle-low reaches of inland river basin in Hexi corridor. Finally, it provides comprehensive and feasible frames of ecological restoration and rebuilding, considers that ecological restoration and rebuilding not only demands restoration and reestablishment of natural environment, but also demands reform and die rebuilding of soct technology, management, culture system, policy. On the other hand, it puts forward some new measurements of ecological restoration and rebuilding of the Hexi corridor.
