Study On Tourism Climate Comfort In Shaanxi Provience

Shaanxi provience located in transitional zone, which is from humid area of Southeast China to arid areas of Northwest China. It belongs to continental climate. Meanwhile because of the effect of complex terrain, climate difference between South Shaanxi and Nouth Shaanxi is larger. The whole provience spans 3 climate zones, such as the north subtropical zone, the warm temperate zone and the temperate zone, so the temporal and spatial change of climate is typical. Tourism resources are rich in Shaanxi, and tourism has became a major industry. But the effect of climate on the development of tourism activities is obvious, the analysis on tourism climate condition and space-time distribution characteristics of human comfort index in Shaanxi has important reference value for tourism businessmen to arrange business activities and for tourists to choose suitable tour time and destination.Based on the daily data of air temperature, relative humidity and wind speed in 24 stations of Shaanxi from 1971 to 2005, temporal and spatial distribution characteristics of air temperature, relative humidity and wind speed are analyed in this paper firstly. Secondly, the seasonal comfort index of each station during the 35 years is calculated, and according to the tourism climate comfort in the whole year and each season, the corresponding tourism climate divisions are made respectively. Then according to five-days average comfort index day and night, the starting and ending time of suitable tourism period is determined. At last, suitable tourism periods of four maijor tourist rounts, such as east, south, west, north line from Xi'an to surrounding areas, are determined, meanwhile the different suitable tourism periods between natural and humanistic tourist sites are devided.The conclusions are as follows:The 1st, the distributions of diurnal extreme comfort index have typical regional diversities in different seasons in Shaanxi.As for extreme comfort degree in daytime in Shaanxi, the most comfortable months are May and September in Northern Shaanxi and are April and October in Guanzhong Area and Southern Shaanxi. In spring, the comfortable days are more than 60 days everywhere (except Taibai Mountain), the comfortable days in Guanzhong and Southern Shaanxi are more than that in Northern Shaanxi and Taibai Mountain. In summer, the difference of comfortable days among regions is maximum, there are more comfortable days in Taibai mountain of Qinling range, loess plateau of Northern Shaanxi and mountain area of Southern Shaanxi, but there are noly a few comfortable days in Guanzhong and basins of Southern Shaanxi. In autumn, it's comfortable everywhere in Shaanxi, the comfortable days decrease from south to north(except Qinling range). In winter, it's uncomfortable with cold everywhere, it's much colder in Northern Shaanxi than that in Guanzhong Area and Southern Shaanxi.As for extreme comfort degree at night, comfortable days mainly appere from May to September, and uncomfortable days with cold mainly appear in the other months. In the whole year the comfortable days at night in Guanzhong and Southern Shaanxi are more than that in Northern Shaanxi.The 2nd, human comfort index of Shaanxi changes toward the warmer-feeling. The number of comfortable days is increasing in spring and winter, but decreasing in summer.The analysis on comfort index in Shaanxi province by means of REOF is made, the comfort degree in the whole year is divided into 4 parts, meanwhile the comfort degree in spring, summer, autumn and winter are divided into 5, 4, 4, 3 parts respectively. Yearly average comfort index of Shaanxi changes toward the warmer-feeling and the Change trend is generally consistent in every area. Change trend of numbers of comfortable days in seasons is different. It increases in spring and winter, but decreases in summer. It changes smoothly without obvious change in autumn. The average comfort index in seasons changes toward the warmer-feeling. It changes relatively greater in winter and spring, but smaller in summer and autumn.The 3rd, developing tourism activities have different priorities in different seasons in Shaanxi.According to five-days average comfort index day and night, the division scheme of suitable tourism period is determined. Then the starting and ending time of the suitable tourism period, fairly suitable tourism period, unsuitable tourism period with hot and unsuitable tourism period with cold is calculated. Then the optimal tourism areas of four seasons are analyed. In spring Guanzhong and Southern Shaanxi are the best regions to travel, the south of Northern Shaanxi is next. In summer Taibai mountain of Qinling range, loess plateau of Northern Shaanxi and mountain area of Southern Shaanxi are best for tourist, the northwest of Guanzhong is next. In September and October of autumn, everywhere in Shaanxi is suitable for tourists, in November Hanzhong and Ankang are best for tourist. In winter, especially from December to early ten days of February, most areas in Shaanxi are not suitable for tourist. Ankang is suitable for tourist in the middle and last ten days of February. The 4th, the tourist sites with different nature have different suitable tourism periods.In the same area, suitable tourism period of humanistic tourist attraction is longer than the nature tourist attraction. Comparing to plain area, suitable tourism period of mountain resorts usually come later but end earlier.
