The study of tourism demand is a hot topic in the field of tourism. In the context of global climate change, climate,an important factor affecting tourism demand, has attracted more and more attention.Although the traditional tourism demand modeling began to consider the impact of climate variables, its research scope is small, its time granularity is large, its explanatory variables are few. These studies are lack of macroscopic and universal. This paper takes 341 prefecture level cities / 31 provinces in mainland China as the research object of domestic / inbound tourism demand. It is based on the data of 2001,2005,2010 and 2015.It takes the double logarithm linear model as the tourism demand model and the climate comfort period as the climate comfort index. The aim of this study is to discuss the influencing factors of domestic / inbound tourism demand, and the impact of climate comfort on tourism demand, and the difference of factors influencing tourism demand in different regions. The results show that:(1)The impacts of climate comfort on domestic and inbound tourism demand are different. The climate comfort period has a significant and long-term positive impact on domestic tourism demand, and the positive impact on inbound tourism demand is only significant in the early stage. The negative effect of cold uncomfortable period on domestic tourism demand is not significant, and has a significant and long-term negative impact on inbound tourism demand, but the impact is gradually weakening. The hot uncomfortable period has negative influence on domestic tourism demand and inbound tourism demand, but the negative effect is gradually weakening.(2)The impact of climate comfort on inbound tourism demand in different continents is different. The comfortable climate has a significant positive impact on the inbound tourism demand of Asia,North America and Oceania. The uncomfortable climate(especially the cold uncomfortable climate)has a significant negative impact on the demand for inbound tourism in Asia. The hot uncomfortable climate has a significant positive impact on the demand for inbound tourism in North America. While for the inbound tourists in Europe, the climate comfort of Chinese tourist destinations has no significant impact on their demand for tourism.(3)In addition, tourism price, tourism resources, traffic factors, accommodation conditions, market scale, geographical distance and trade openness are all important factors affecting tourism demand. However, the influence of these factors on domestic and inbound tourism demand is different in different periods.
