| Objective The purpose of this research aims to sort out the process of including foreign materia medica imported from oversea trade into the Traditional Chinese Medicine system through the excavation of relevant literature on oversea trade in the Song Dynasty,to demonstrate how foreign materia medica and exotic culture play a role in the development of various clinical disciplines of Traditional Chinese Medicine,and to analyze the rise of “discrimination of identification” as well as the reasons and the significance of the changes in the management system of medicine in the Song Dynasty.Through drawing on historical experience,this paper is expected to make policy recommendations for the “Belt and Road” construction of Traditional Chinese Medicine today.MethodsThis paper uses literature research and comprehensive analysis method to collect and organize ancient and modern literature on oversea trade during the Song Dynasty.It also uses occurrences to analyze the development of foreign materia medica during the Song Dynasty in terms of their contribution to the development of various clinical disciplines of Traditional Chinese Medicine,their influence on materia medica,the formulation of policies related to pharmaceuticals during the Song Dynasty,as well as the emergence of official pharmacy bureaus and the preparation process of standardized medicine.Results1.The prosperity of oversea trade in the Song Dynasty was the inevitable result of the economic,political,cultural and technological development of the Song Dynasty.2.Foreign materia medica imported from oversea trade have enriched the varieties of Traditional Chinese Medicines,expanded the herbal system,promoted the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine formula,thus giving a profound impact on various clinical specialties of Traditional Chinese Medicine.3.The Song dynasty formulated relevant pharmaceutical policies,promoted the establishment of official pharmacies,and formed standardized prototypes such as standardized preparation procedures for finished medicines,all of which are inseparable from the driving of economic interests and the promotion of policies that benefit the people in the context of overseas trade.4.Oversea trade in the Song Dynasty was also a process of mutual exchanges.While absorbing foreign materia medica and exotic culture,it also spread Traditional Chinese Medicine overseas,which enabled Traditional Chinese Medicine to take root in various forms while promoting the development of international traditional medicine globally.ConclusionIt is particularly worth noting that when a large number of foreign materia medica poured in during Song dynasty,China’s inherent herbal system was not significantly affected by the impact of foreign materia medica.Instead,foreign materia medica were incorporated into the theoretical system of Traditional Chinese Medicine and given new life.The clinical application under the guidance of medical theory has enriched the diagnosis and treatment methods,and realized an indispensable part of Traditional Chinese Medicine.At the same time,the Song Dynasty promoted to explore the establishment of a more reasonable medical management system,and established a good trading environment for the commercial circulation of medicine.Learning from history makes us fully aware of the importance of insisting on open-up development,inheritance and innovation,and the coherence to Chinese culture in traditional Chinese medicine,which will provide valuable inspiration for the current development of the Belt and Road construction of Traditional Chinese Medicine. |
