| Objectives: The aims of this study were to explore the situation of economic and social development,the health level of residents,the health investment and the universal coverage of service resources in several nations(Pakistan、India、Myanmar、Lao People’s Democratic Republic、Viet Nam)along the south line of the Belt and Road Initiative,and to deeply analyze the current situation of health and wellness development of them.Then,to identify major health problems in those countries,analyze the main factors affecting the health and wellness development of them,explore their advantages of health and wellness development and propose to deepen the exchange and cooperation in the field of health and wellness between China and the five countries,including the other countries along the south line of the Belt and Road Initiative.Methods: In this paper,the health-related data were collected from Global Health Observatory Databases of the World Health Organization,the economic and social development data were collected from the World Bank open databases and the United Nations databases.The maps of the Belt and Road Initiative and Asian region were collected from the Surveying and Mapping of National Administration of Surveying in China.The current situation and advantages of health and wellness development in the nations along the south line of the Belt and Road Initiative were analyzed by literature method.Using the empirical research method,referring to the Millennium Development Goals and the Sustainable Development Goals issued by the United Nations,using quantitative analysis and qualitative analysis to understand the current situation of health development in the nations along the south line of the Belt and Road Initiative in a multi-dimensional and all-round way,and to compare themajor health problems of those countries.Multivariate linear regression analysis was used to establish regression models between the current situation of health and wellness development indicators and economic and social development indicators,the health expenditure indicators,the universal health coverage indicators and environmental conditions indicators in those countries,and then analyze the main factors affecting the current situation of health and wellness development of them.The statistical test level α=0.05.Results:(1)The economic and social development indicators,the health expenditure indicators,the universal health coverage indicators and environmental conditions indicators in the nations along the south line of the Belt and Road Initiative have gaps with the world average level and the level of lower-middle-income nations.But some indicators in Vietnam are better than the world average level and the level of lower-middle-income nations.(2)The health-related indicators in the nations along the south line of the Belt and Road Initiative have not met the Millennium Development Goals and the Sustainable Development Goals issued by the United Nations,but some indicators in Vietnam have reached the Sustainable Development Goals ahead of schedule.(3)The level of health and wellness development in the nations along the south line of the Belt and Road Initiative is positively correlated with the level of economic and social development,the level of health expenditure,the allocation of health resources and the quality of living environment.Among them,the quality of living environment and the level of economic and social development have a significant impact on the level of health and wellness development.(4)Those countries with better health and wellness development level along the south line of the Belt and Road Initiative have advantages and reference significance in national health and wellness strategies,universal health coverage,medical tourism undertakings,and health workforce team building.Conclusions:(1)The level of health and wellness development in the nations along the south line of the Belt and Road Initiative is generally backward.The performance is that thehealth level of residents needs to be improved,the challenges of health threats are widespread,the living environment of residents is in urgent need of improvement,the government’s health investment is insufficient and the coverage of service guarantees is narrow.(2)The health and wellness development in the nations along the south line of the Belt and Road Initiative is mainly affected by those factors like economic and social development,living environment and daily behavior,etc.(3)The nations along the south line of the Belt and Road Initiative need to improve the efficiency of health system services and improve children’s health by improving their health strategic planning and child health insurance system;need to improve the utilization of national health resources and protect the health status of residents improve the utilization of national health resources and protect the health status of residents by focusing on the development of medical-related industries and the construction of health workforce.(4)The health exchange and cooperation along the south line of the Belt and Road Initiative should focus on building regional cooperation mechanisms,strengthening joint prevention and control of diseases,smoothing talent training channels,improving basic health facilities,expanding the traditional medicine market,providing multi-dimensional health assistance,and encouraging policy promotion and exchanges.These seven aspects should be carried out to jointly build a global healthy Silk Road. |
