Chinese traditional medicine(TCM)has a long history of development. With its development,a large number of TCM terms have appeared in the Chinese vocabular. The TCM professional language is not only an important corpus of Chinese ontology research, but also an important content of CSP.Since the 1980 s,the results of language research corresponding to various levels of social structure have been emerging, such as religious language, gambling language, business argot, slang and other works have been published, the Chinese for General Purpose(CGP)textbooks have also gradually matured, but compared with other language studies, the study of the TCM professional language is slightly inadequate. In order to make up for the deficiencies in the study of the TCM professional language, this paper focuses on the TCM professional language included in the TCM Chinese textbook Traditional Chinese Medicine,Traditional Chinese Medicine Comprehensive Course,Practical Chinese Medicine, and studies the ontology of the TCM professional language and second language teaching from the perspective of synchronic and diachronic combination. This paper mainly includes the following parts:Chapter 1 is the introduction, which is divided into five parts :The first part defines the concepts of professional language and the professional language of TCM,and establishes the criteria for judging the TCM professional language. The second part summarizes the research situation of the TCM professional language from the aspects of professional language research,The ontology research in TCM language and the professional language of TCM teaching to foreigners. The third part discusses the research significance of the TCM professional language. The fourth part introduces the theory and method of the research. The fifth part deals with the source and selection of the corpus.Chapter 2 first classifies the TCM professional language from the perspective of TCM and linguistics.Secondly,we conclude that the professional language of TCM has the following characteristics: professionalism, righteousness, continuity, polysemy, more word one meaning and generalization.Chapter 3 discusses the motivation of word-making of the TCM professional language.First of all,we think that the definition of word-making motivation in the past is not comprehensive enough, which restricts the study of word-making motivation. Therefore,a new definition of word-making motivation is given. The reason and basis for a phonetic form to express a meaningful content or grammatical function.Secondly,it expands the scope of the study of lexical motivation. The research object of lexical motivation should not only include the main substantive such as verbs, nouns and adjectives, but also all parts of speech including quantifiers, prepositions and conjunctions.Thirdly, lexical motivation is conscious, and at the same time, unconscious. They are the basic characteristics of lexical motivation.Fourthly, different from the previous classification of motivation types, the motivation types of TCM vocabulary are divided into three categories: characteristic motivation, cultural motivation, and functional motivation.Fifthly, discusses the significance of motivation teaching method in Chinese teaching of traditional Chinese medicine.Chapter 4 discusses the generalization of the TCM professional language from a dynamic point of view.Because the TCM industry has existed for a long time and is closely related to people’s lives, the dynamic development of the TCM professional language is strong, and its outstanding performance is that the generalized words are far more than most of the professional language. This chapter discusses the generalization of the TCM professional language from the perspectives of its content, reasons, stages, mechanism, imbalance, and value. At the same time,we have formulated the criteria of "meaning" and "homonym" to identify whether the industry language has been generalized.Thirdly,it discusses the application of generalized rhetoric in Chinese teaching of TCM.Chapter 5 mainly discusses the four dimensions of lexical exploration culture, the cultural connotations of Chinese medicine culture words and Chinese medicine professional words.Firstly,we can study the cultural connotation of words from four perspectives: structure, etymology, semantics and pragmatics.Secondly, the main task of exploring culture through the meaning of words is undertaken by "cultural words".Thirdly, through the investigation of vocabulary system,we find that TCM professional language contains abundant cultural connotations: first,Yin-Yang philosophy;second, noble moral sentiment of medical practitioners;third, medicine and food homologous culture;fourth,Wuzhu culture;and fifth,Taoist culture.Fourth,it discusses the significance and content of the introduction of cultural factors in Chinese teaching of traditional Chinese medicine. In the 6 chapter,we firstly compare the words included in the three TCM textbooks from five aspects: vocabulary size, word selection rate, rank distribution, part of speech distribution and co-selection rate.We find that there are some problems in TCM textbooks, such as the seriously over-outline,unreasonable part of speech distribution, low proportion of co-selected words, and non-standard choice of TCM words. In order to provide reference for compiling Traditional Chinese Medicine textbooks and formulating TCM vocabulary syllabus,we have investigated150 most commonly used vocabularies in the field of TCM.At the same time, five teaching methods of Chinese medicine vocabulary are put forward: demonstration method, morpheme teaching method, motivation teaching method, contrast method,Register analysis method and culture factor teaching method.Chapter 7 is the conclusion, which summarizes the major results of this study, points out its shortcomings, and clarifies the relevant content for future research.
